Subject: “Even the Downs Have Their Ups.”

Thought Adjuster: “Dear child, as you just read in the Urantia Book, the Father’s will is always infused with love and focused on the Highest Good of all creation. This means that, if there were to be an ending, it would be a happy one.
“As all creatures move forward toward the fulfillment of their divine matrix of perfection, this is also the happy ending of their first evolutionary stage and the happy beginning of their eternal career.
“Time is a factor until it is no longer. Time is necessary for growth and patience is required as well, as growth cannot be forced. Yet, spiritual growth can be accelerated upon absorbing good spiritual food. The mind and the spirit can be strengthened and become better equipped to deal with the ups-and-downs of human planetary life.
“As you have come to recognize more and more, even the downs have their ups. They are revealing to you where you stand at a particular moment and they are pointing in the right direction, helping you realize other areas where progress is needed.
“As you become more and more aware of the moment-to-moment happenings in your life, you are getting better at deciphering their true meaning and the teachings they entail — the blessings wrapped within the dark charcoal of your tribulations — the diamonds waiting to be set free.
“The truth shall set you free and as you come to realize, truth comes in many shapes and forms and in many packages. The more you are receptive to the truth signals, the more you will become able to move into your own truth, your own alignment with your divine pattern of perfection, your attunement with the Divine Presence within you. Eventually, as you are with your loved ones, with your spouse, you will become more and more of one mind, one higher consciousness. This will be the cause of great joy in Heaven.”

(Having finally solved a difficult problem, George is visibly happy about it, but it’s rather late . . . again.)
Bzutu: “Now would be the time to contemplate how you would feel if you had a real brain, rather than just good luck.”
(subdued laughter — there are others already asleep here).
The Scribe: “The lateness of the hour and your wandering mind made me cut short our discussion before, my dear friend. This is the Damascus Scribe who bestows upon you his love and admiration here and for all time in our local universe, yes, and even into the eternity realm of Paradise.
“The fact that Midwayers — indeed all Midwayers, Primary and Secondary — have no Thought Adjusters allows you to more clearly understand that they can only be brothers and sisters insofar as you all have the same Parents — Michael and Nebadonia.
“The Midwayers are two different species. The Primary Midwayers are related to the Planetary Prince’s servants. Adamson and his Nodite wife, Ratta, were the grandparents to the “Spirit Guardian” friends of your youth. However, neither are indwelt by Thought Adjusters, although both species frequently work closely with both Angels and Adjusters.
“However long it takes for any evolutionary world to attain Light and Life, fusion for Midwayers is on hold. And so it goes for Life Carriers, Melchizedeks and countless others you do not yet know, even your Celestial Engineer, brother Isaac. It will often be reported that the Angels are envious of your kind, perhaps even outright jealous, but would any of them enjoy having to function with a mind 100 percent dependent on a electro-chemical brain? Not likely, and furthermore, would they enjoy serving the two earthly masters — their physical as well as their spiritual needs?
“Human beings live short, intensive lives and would fare badly without an Adjuster, even if many are hardly aware of the Godsent Helper. Morontial beings generally have easier lives while their lives before fusion can be thousands, yes, millions of years in duration.
“It’s all right to wish to be in another’s shoes, or ‘sport another’s wings,’ so to speak, but how many would question the Eternal Father’s decision to grant anyone the gift of life of one kind or another? I am the Damascus Scribe. Goodnight to all.”

Subject: “One Never Stops Learning.”

The Beloved One: “Today I shall endeavor to explain to you why one never stops learning. Even people who never had the chance to enjoy formal education, learn through experiences in life. Through their free-will choices and their decision-making, humans usually learn through their thoughtless and willful choices and decisions that causes always create effects. Animals learn also, but theirs is by instinct and intuition. Some animals are more developed along the evolutionary path.
“Humankind has left that state behind, having slowly evolved from animals until the gifts from the Holy Spirit finally got a chance to function. These two wonderful Gifts are worship and wisdom. Sadly, not many humans have claimed and accepted these Gifts as their own and they tend to be still in an unprogressive state that is observable when looking at the present state of the planet. Progress is only achieved when humans start thinking for themselves and leave the ‘herd mentality.’
“However, it takes courage to leave that comfortable state of doing things as they have always done, which was good enough for their parents when they were young. Unprogressive teachings are still being taught to the masses in churches and other places of worship. The Life and Teachings of Jesus have had practically no chance of being put into practice on a large scale as it would turn all of so-called ‘Christianity’ on its head.
“It takes courage to leave the comfortable pew and start questioning things and finding out things for yourself; that it is better to walk alone and progress with continual learning and by making your own personal connection with the Creator of your being than to keep on walking with a crowd in the same unprogressive direction.
“This is a momentous decision as now the Gifts of worship and wisdom would get a glorious opportunity to function — especially when a human is determined to solidify her or his connection with the special Gift from God within, namely the Thought Adjuster — purposely given to all normal humans at a tender age. This Gift functions in concert with the two Gifts of worship and wisdom under the ‘umbrella’ of the Spirit of Truth. And let’s not forget your angelic helpers who always endeavor to help all of you.
“Such is the over-arching loving care and energy from the universal Creator God, who desires that his human offspring discover His Presence within them and choose to come back to Him while learning how to do His Will. However this is never the subject of coercion. This wonderful opportunity is for each mortal to learn at his or her own speed and discover for themselves more potential gifts such as a deep joy and peace beginning to rise up from unknown depths. The human self is a deep reservoir of hidden wealth, which no money in the world could ever buy.
“All this is available by learning to prioritize the important things in life and by learning to spend time with the Eternal Gift within and get insights into how one can conduct one’s mortal life and gain eternal life. One must be active and learn to do God’s will . . . willingly.”

Subject: “Living in Light and Life” — Part One.

Thought Adjuster: “True freedom can only be experienced when you function in complete harmony with the universal energies — with the Father’s will. In other words, it is a complete dedication to the exploration of unconditional love for all beings. It is refreshing when human beings in this world manage to elevate their motivation for the endeavors they decide to explore.
“Once you have managed to attain a vision of eternity, you will no longer be motivated by money and selfish rewards in order to make your decisions in this world. Light and life is not yet a global reality on this planet, but they can be a reality in your life if you live according to the guidance of the Father within you. In a world of light and life, human beings focus their efforts onto one task only: the attainment of perfection. This sublime goal includes knowing our Father better, whose likeness is the achievement these exalted mortals desire to attain. The increasing understanding of the Father and His love for His children spontaneously brings the desire to serve others. For this reason on those worlds of glory all work for each other, for the common good, for the pleasure and the benefit of each person who shares their world. However, service to their neighbors is not the main motivation for these creatures, but instead it is a byproduct of their search for perfection.
“Even now each one of you can aspire to such a life. Michael already illustrated with His life how one can live in Light and Life regardless of the state in which the world finds itself. It brings great joy to those on high observing that an increasing number of mortals on this world are striving to live lives like His. This is a clear sign that progress is manifesting in this sphere and that the efforts of the correcting time are having an impact.
“Unfortunately, those lives are not the ones that are recognized by the majority and are not highlighted by your media. Instead only the most savage and primitive actions are the things most advertised in your world. Do not be deceived by this because the light is slowly coming through on this world and the will of the Father will prevail in the end in the hearts of His children who desire His peace and His perfection. Live from now on in the age of Light and Life because this age will become a reality on Urantia only when Light and Life are a part of all the individual hearts of each and every inhabitant of this world.”

The Scribe: “When you smartly elucidate to whom you wish to speak, that Teacher will come through to you. Of course, when your mind is not clear and you ‘vaguely move through’ a list of your Teachers, they may well shrug their shoulders and await a specific call. Now tell your story here first.”
George: At some time during 1974 or 1975 Midwayer Chief Bzutu and I discussed the further treatment of a deeply troubled patient. What we came up with between us more than pleased us both and I chanced the remark: ‘We’re as old as the Hills, you and I.’ It was a casual way of saying that neither of us was born just yesterday. The Chief answered: ‘You are older.’ Then he was gone.
The Scribe: “Can you think of anyone who would better explain what the Chief had in mind? He, of course, spoke of the Gift from God you mostly call your Thought Adjuster. I am a Thought Adjuster. I was a Virgin Adjuster and through various — mostly dissappointing associations — I became a Self-Acting Adjuster, then a Supreme Adjuster (serving both Machiventa and Jesus), now a Personalized Adjuster of which there are but relatively few.
And so I am the one who with a few words can explain what your friend, Bzutu, meant. In the years he spent on this planet he is unbelievably older than is your body, or your brain, or mind. It is concerning your Thought Adjuster that he informs you, you are older.
“Firstly, my dear friend, your Thought Adjuster left Divinington’s ‘indoctrination’ with his universe Ph.D. long before the Secondary Midwayers of your planet were ever thought of. And secondly, more importantly, Thought Adjusters are Fragments of the Creator of All. They are not offspring of God. Oh no! They are Segments of the eternal Father. They predate time, together with the Creator. In fact, there is no one older. We are all — you might say — ageless.
“Of great importance — and this was the conclusion you were invited to come to at the time, which you did — Midwayers are not hosts to Thought Adjusters. Angels host no Thought Adjusters and neither do Life Carriers, nor do Melchizedeks. It is almost entirely a human phenomenon and those few creatures, not of your races, that do occasionally become indwelt by a Thought Adjuster are unrevealed to you.
“Humans must have Adjusters. You are almost immediately eligible. It is beyond your reasoning and imagination to conceive of a world where your races were not to be indwelt. Inconceivable, you say? Yes, you are right, you might likely still be on all fours.
“Truly, all matters dealing with Adjusters are always best attended by me. I leave you now for a short time, dear one, but I leave you my love.”
