Subject: “Perfecting Relationships.”

Sharmon: “Living together in a family group, sharing the same workplace or social activities entails the situation of contingent relationships. Relationships come from the assumption that ‘no man is an island’ and needs others to survive in this world. There are primary and secondary relationships. Primary relationships are the ones that cause other relationships, the secondary ones. The relationship between a wife and husband may cause a secondary relationship with the offspring from that marriage. Our question today is: How do we acceptably, healthily and pleasurably function in relationships?
“Firstly, understand the kind of relationship you are in, realizing the dependencies in it. In marriage, the relationship of dependency should be mutual, couples are partners in life. In a family relationship, some are on the dependency side (usually children) others on the provider's side (parents). In work, relationships are of authority, ones to exercise it (bosses) others to obey. In society, relationships are institutional ones: laws, rules and mores become institutions to which all should submit. If you behave according to your dependency position in a relationship, chances are this relationship will be an effective one.
“Secondly, as much as possible, fix problems; do not quit the relationship. Relationships to endure must be based on an expression of love according to the relationship type: marital, familial, friendship, kindness. And, as the apostle Paul stressed, ‘Love never quits.’ Sometimes, even if the relationship can’t survive, love always can. Expect problems and changes when you are in a relationship. Solving relationship problems requires mostly focusing on the problems and least on the people. Criticizing, arguing, and rebuking do not help, but dialogue (including listening), surely does.
“Thirdly, respect the trademark of any relationship. Loving a person never entitles anybody to lose respect for that person — to the contrary. Lack of respect involving a person may happen connected with his or her actions, but should never happen concerning the status of a person, which in the most basic expression is that one of a human being, a child (even if a rebel) of God, and in this world, inhabited by a representation (the Spirit Within) of the Father of All. There is absolutely no reason to give up on respecting anybody. Lacking respect for anyone is first of all a lack of respect for the self.
“Therefore, my friend, keeping relationships means to work on keeping them healthy and greater responsibility falls on those who value and want to keep relationships. As to everything in life, you must have a clear understanding of what the relationship means and which is your position (and that of others) in it. If you value a relationship, quitting is the last resort because love never quits. Finally, without respect, a relationship is doomed to be troubled. Respect is essential.

Teacher Ophelius: “Today, dear friends, we would like to introduce you to your own guidance teams. Nearly all of you reading this message are awakening and have stepped onto the spiritual path. Therefore have you been afforded certain spiritual resources that include Destiny Guardians, for some individuals, and for others, Guardian Angels that have been assigned to small, more personally managed groups of individuals. As you mature in personality and in spiritual growth, more of these spiritual resources are assigned to you to help manage your growth so that you may maximize the limited time you have on Urantia — a truly unique sphere in the universe where many great souls are being shaped and forged to go on and become valuable assets in the Father’s Great Plan of universe management.
“You may rarely think about such things, but the Father does and has a plan for every living soul he indwells with His Spirit. Your experiences and decisions, here and now, are valuable to this Great Plan equation and to the emergence of the Supreme Being. Many of you come to this planet with ‘complexities’ and diverse soul compositions that intertwine your destinies with other ascendant souls. Soul families are a reality and there are myriads of nested groups that contribute to the equation of the Great Plan. You, my dear friends, have many interested parties looking to assist you in your life plan, yet because of the sovereignty of free will, they must wait until you are ready to reach out and discover your own souls.
“For those who are ready to begin the expansion of their souls, I ask that you introduce yourself to your guidance teams and begin this very intimate and personal journey to consciously contribute to the Great Plan and to your own development as ascending souls — Finaliters. How do you begin? You begin at the Center of a great circle. There you have your Spiritual Operator — the Indwelling Presence of the Universal Father — the Thought Adjuster. Please, if you have not already done so, say hello and consummate this most intimate relationship you have with the Creator. You might say something like:
“My Beloved Indwelling, I AM ready to expand my soul and work co-creatively with you in all things, and I open my heart and mind to your loving guidance here and hereafter.”
“Some of you may have a powerful emotional experience when you sincerely consecrate this divine relationship. This very decision to ‘make real’ in your heart and mind this partnership with the Divine sets in motion the administrative energies and councils needed to provide an ascending soul all the inherent rights and support it needs to move into active participation in the Great Plan. Until this time, many of you sleep and we wait patiently for your initiation. If today is that day, congratulations and welcome to the Family!

Thought Adjuster: “Your focusing in the present moment is an excellent technique to clear the mind of unnecessary anxiety and concern. Often your mortal mind falls back to doubt and to being a victim of the bombardment of false necessities that the world constantly throws at you. It is at those moments when you feel that you are not enough, when you need something more than what you already possess, when you feel that you are no longer a valuable member of humanity that whole-hearted dedication to the task in front of you will help you come back to your center and effectively balance your thoughts.
“You have experienced this. When you are worried about the things you don’t have and when you start wishing to be anywhere but where you are now, focusing your attention on solving the problems in front of you will focus your mind back to reality. What is the magic in this? How something so simple can calm your anxiety? When you focus on the task at hand and dedicate your efforts into solving the issues that are your responsibility, you are effectively doing what your Father expects you to do. You are living in the moment and the place where your Father has placed you, therefore achieving the purpose of your existence.
“You may ask yourself, how could something so simple be what the Father expects of me? The eternal values are developed through consistency and the constant commitment of your personality to be the best you can be in any situation. In this equation the situation is irrelevant. If you manage to express the best of your being while you perform your job, while you are helping your friends in this world, while you are attending to the needs of your family, or when you are studying to become an active agent in society, you are developing eternal values that will accompany you and be useful during your career at the next levels of your existence.
“But what if your work is unsatisfying or if you are being forced to do something that is not an expression of truth, beauty and goodness? If you perceive your responsibilities as unpleasant the best approach is to do an honest examination to discover the source of your dissatisfaction. With some creativity and love, any activity can become more pleasant; because in everything we do our Father can find a means for expression, as long as that activity is performed with love and with the best intentions.
“If you are being forced to do something that goes against the will of your Father, do everything you can to leave that situation. Remember that there is nothing in this world you need, because you are all born with everything you need to live a fulfilling life. Do not allow the material pressures to make you forget your spiritual needs. Nobody can force others to do something against their will. Your life is in the hands of your Father and nobody can inflict any permanent damage on you. Often human beings become slaves of their own artificial needs and ambitions. Do not let others take advantage of your fears to control you and deprive you of your divine right to freely express your will.
“However, in this world there are some who have been deceived to make them believe that the workings of hate and selfishness are somehow the will of a god that does not love his children equally. These children confused and deceived by others will not be found guilty despite their apparent evil actions. The love of the Father extends to all His children without difference or limits. All mortals will have an opportunity to awaken and to decide their eternal destiny with all the information available.”

The Beloved One: “Seek not a position among the mighty on this planet, for seldom do they garner a place in the history books and so shall earthly pride return to dust. Rather, seek for the values of heaven and the true meaning of existence.
“Even the mighty Ruler of a universe humbled himself to be born into a manger in a stable. This is how willing he was to show himself among the poor on earth.
“The love of heaven is everywhere. It does not seek entrance into palaces. It only seeks entrance in the humble of heart that are willing to be obedient to the will of God. Obedience is one of the keys to the Kingdom of heaven, where the full glory of God is to be found.
“I entice you to be more obedient, to train yourself in the will and the way the Creator Father in heaven; who loves all his children equally, and does not demand obedience as a stern inflexible judge, but rather yearns for you to give Him your obedience from your free will.
“This is what Jesus came to show you all, and he was the purest example of this. He grew and matured into full consciousness of His Being. This was His mission; to reveal a loving God in heaven, whilst at the same time proclaiming a new revelation of man to God.
“He showed in His life on earth just what mortals are capable of becoming.
“Once you realize this growing consciousness, how much freer and more joyful you will be! Once you place obedience to God above everything else, each day shall bring you closer to the divine pattern.
“The Creator in His inscrutable wisdom has given you the power to attain this if you heed my Guidance and therefore He has placed Me within each of you for that very purpose.
“So come and take the time to listen.”
