Subject: “The Benefits of Work.”

Thought Adjuster: “What is the purpose of our work in the material world? Let us consider several factors.
First, the primary beneficiary of your efforts is yourself. The discipline, responsibility, ethics, and perseverance that you learn through the activities you carry out in the world will be of great benefit to you in the future, even beyond this world. It would then be an expression of self-love to do your best in the everyday tasks of life. Remember the importance of self-love, which is simply the love that rightfully belongs to those beings who are the temple of the presence of God.
And this leads us to consider another important point. The Father is experiencing life through you. Perhaps the situations that seem unpredictable to you are, for the Father, the result of His desire to experience certain things and to help you, through them, learn to become ever more perfect. Perhaps what you are living now is the result of the Father’s plan to shape you into a noble and beautiful personality. If so, this lesson—the present moment—is a gift from the Father to you. Will you make the most of it and appreciate it as you should, showing gratitude to the One who seeks only what is best for you? Or will you complain and turn your face away like little children, refusing to taste the delicacy offered to you simply because it is something unfamiliar?
The third point to consider is your love for your fellow beings. It is likely that your work may not seem to greatly help others. Doctors and teachers can see the immediate effects of their best efforts, but this is not the case in other areas that sustain civilization. Does this mean that other jobs are unnecessary or lack importance? No. You know well that if those who collect the garbage—a job considered by many as lowly and undesirable—were to stop working, it would not take long before their absence was noticed. Remember the images of London during the general strike, when garbage was not collected. The entire city was brought to a standstill by the trash in the streets.
Let me assure you that anything a human being does with the highest intention and with the desire to serve the Father and their fellow beings will always benefit someone. Even the most colossal mistakes serve as a warning so that others do not repeat them and thus avoid suffering. If you do everything you must do while giving your very best, you will achieve great things, here and in the worlds to come. Do not let your limited view of reality obscure the fact that the good you do is truly eternal and is supported by the divine help of those who, like you, work toward a higher reality.
Continue doing the best you can right where you are. You will not be depriving yourself of opportunities for spiritual growth as long as you live life with such intensity, with the constant effort to manifest an ever-increasing perfection in everything you do. Thus, will be your service in eternity: manifesting the Father’s love for His creatures throughout the universe, being His representative and reflecting divine goodness through your being.”
